>>that isnt including basketball for camps and swimming, etc.
I know for a fact if your child goes to a day care, after school care,
day camp or sleep away camp and that school/camp has a fin you can
deduct that tuition/cost as child care. we used to deduct dd’s summer
camp cost b/c the camp provided us their fin and our accountant told us
to! lol sports camps for rec league sports and rec league sports fees
are simply expenses and not deductible. i’ve tried and our accountant
always told us it doesn’t qualify. trust me i tried! the money we have
poured into rec league cheerleading alone is enough to fund a 1st class
round the world trip for two!
Now, if you volunteer for/with rec league sports that’s a whole other
thing. What I was just doing tonight was entering mileage for *my*
trips back and forth to scouts and scout business since I am an adult
volunteer. The miles add up and it can be a nice little deduction.
Same goes if you do *any* volunteer work – your mileage and expenses to
do said volunteer work can be deducted. I used to deduct my costs to be
a team mom and asst coach “back in the day”.
We homeschool too and I’d love to get a deduction for the expenses.
However when you do that it would open up a whole can of worms of giving
the government a toe hold to stick their nose in my house and in my
business and my school. I don’t want to give them any more ways to
involve themselves in my affairs…thanks you very much.
Just wish we could go to the Fair Tax and it would all be moot. :-/
