1/2 C Butter 10-1/2 oz can Beef Consomme – undiluted 10-1/2 oz can onion soup – undiluted 8oz can water chestnuts – sliced & drained 8oz can sliced mushrooms – drained 6oz box long grain & wild rice (not quick cooking)
Melt butter and soups in 1-1/2 qt casserole dish. Place in 350 degree oven until the butter is melted. Add water chestnuts, mushrooms & rice. Stir to mix and return to oven for 1 hr uncovered. Serves 8
Crockpot method – this usually takes about 2 -3 hrs on low – Melt butter and soups, then place in crockpot and add the rest of the ingredients as listed above. Stir to mix. Cook on low 2-3 hrs or until liquid is absorbed. Stir periodically so mixture does not stick in the crockpot.
