Not all loans in deferment stop accruing interest. It depends on the
type of loan she has. The subsidized type of government loans and
Perkin loans do not accrue interest while in deferment or
forebearance, while the unsubsidized loans do.
Check with your lender and they will be happy to let you know which
ones you have and which will accrue interest during a deferment or
forebearance.
