Just curious if the frugal lifestyle is just a temporary means to an

end? Do you have very specific goals to keep you disciplined?

I wish I could be even more frugal than I am (my fiance and I LOVE

going out to eat, etc.). I would love to pay off my mortgage and have

us have zero debt so we can become rich! I want us to become a power

couple. It would be so cool to throw paychecks in the bank.

My ultimate goal would be a beach house, but those are a million

bucks. At best, they’d probably drop the price to $800,000. I would

love to live as if we’re on vacation everyday. I wish we could afford

      that!

      It’s nice to dream!

What is your big goal, your big dream? And do you believe it to be

      possible?

Lisa,There’s nothing wrong about thinking about the What if’s. Just remember if these happen you will deal w/ them. When one door closes another one opens. I had cancer in the 4th stages in 2004 and had an adopted son 7 yrs old. We dealt w/ it and survied.

My ultimate goal… That’s a hard one. I’m not really a goal setter, and I’m still wobbling away on training wheels as far as saving money aside.

I guess I’d have to say that my ultimate goal is either to try and fix up my dad’s house, or to find a place of my own where I can have my dog and that isn’t miles away from the bus stop (I don’t drive.) before my dad retires in two years. (We make each other crazy veeeerrrry easily, and there’s always the whole ‘It’s not your house. I own it. Not even your room is yours.’ thing *sigh*)

That’s really all I can come up with. I do need to put plenty away for retirement, of course. I’m 37, it’s all downhill from here, y’know? 😉 Especially with less than $200 in the bank and only contributing 4% to my 401k at work (which I will increase at open enrollment this fall).

So, yeah, definitely a house and a savings cushion. That would be my ultimate goal.

      Taryn
