I always enjoy chocolates, truffles or mints. I realize they’re consumable, but
always enjoyed!
At one wedding we attended, the favour was a crystal snowflake — perfect for
the christmas tree. (it was a summer wedding, and I forget, at the momment, how
they related).
We gave out candles at our wedding — not votives, but long, tapered bees wax
candles in our wedding colours that we made ourselves (although I have seen
votives given out, too). They were lovely on the table, and the guests took
them home and used them.
Another favour that we use is a cd that was made up for each guest which
contained the favourite love songs of the couple. (although I’m not certain
that’s legal with the copyright laws, it is something that we still use).
Another suggestion is to use a smallish picture frame to frame the name cards.
The frame can then be used as the favour, also.
there must be more….
Oh, yes, at one wedding all the glasses (like water glasses) were placed on
lovely small white doilies… they were the favour at the end of the reception,
also. The two doilies that we received are still sitting on my collectables
shelf with figurines on them. If the doilies were slightly larger they could be
used to wrap silverware.
other favours I’ve seen… a small pad of paper and pen for each guest (useful
— the pen had the couples names and wedding date on them!), small teddy bears
(useless, don’t do it), tiny burnable oil lamps (only practical to some people)
and bride-painted sun catchers (they were very pretty!)
hope that helps!
