Vanilla Syrup 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 vanilla bean, split Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Once the mixture boils, reduce the heat and simmer the syrup for 5 minutes, swirling the pan occasionally. Cool the mixture completely and pour into a glass container with a screw-top. Store in refrigerator for up to 4 months. Remove the vanilla bean before serving. Makes about 1 1/2 cups and can be easily multiplied to make a larger batch. If you’d like to make a flavored liqueur syrup, add 1/4 cup liqueur of your choice to the syrup after it has cooled for about 10 minutes.
