Roaming cats enjoy loose soil and mulch and frequently use gardens and
landscaped areas as litter boxes. Laying rough-textured or chunky bark
mulch or ornamental rocks on the soil may repel them because these
materials are uncomfortable to soft paws. You can also lay chicken
wire on the soil and cover it with mulch. Cats also don’t like the
smell of dog hair or anise oil, so these can be spread on the soil.
Shredded lemon or grapefruit peels also deter cats. Look for a
commercial product, such as “Bad Cat” for example, that contains
      citrus oils.

I realize this may still present problems for the day care but this
might be used about the perimerter of the yard. Just a thought and a
hope to help. I can’t offer much on this list but I love all of
      you.
