Tape stuck in VCR

  My son borrowed a VHS tape from a friend, and now it’s stuck in the
  
  VCR. It’s a VCR/TV combo, and has never had a tape stuck in it before.
  
  Or course it is a few years old, and out of all our tapes, it would
  
  have a borrowed tape stuck. I am so reluctant to take it to a repair
  
  shop because the repair will probably cost more than the TV is worth.
  
  I just want to have a tape to give back. Does anyone have any
  
  suggestions? Thanks.
