      Hi,
      Not sure about potatoes, but I store onions like this: I gather up clean,
      old hose, and drop one onion into the toe of it. Tie a knot into it. Drop
      another onion, tie another knot.

      Continue til the hose is about full. Make
      a loop that you can hang onto a nail in the utility room, pantry, or
      wherever. When you need an onion, just cut the bottom onion off, below the
      knot.

      You can keep onions this way for a loooong time! 🙂
