      i know that ya’ll think that I’m crazy for posting the kind of ‘Gifts from Your Kitchen’ that I have been posting for the past few months! But a gift from your kitchen shouldn’t be limited to what you can share in a jar! A gift from your kitchen can include the tools, ingredients, and recipes to help start someone on THEIR road to healthy eating!!

      So my suggestion today is:
      Give the gift of a slow cooker with non-perishable ingredients:
      a pkg of instant rice (we start them out slowly)
      a bottle of barbecue sauce
      a $5 gift certificate towards the fresh ingredients
      and the recipe for:
      Slow-Cooker Stuffed Peppers
      4 green peppers
      1/2 lb ground pork
      1 cup instant white rice, uncooked
      1 cup frozen peas
      3/4 cup water, divided
      1/2 cup barbecue sauce, divided
      1/4 lb.

      American cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
      Cut tops off peppers. Chop tops, then refrigerate for another use. Remove seeds from peppers.

      Discard. Set pepper shells aside.
      Mix meat, rice, peas, and 1/4 cup each water and barbecue sauce just until blended. Spoon into pepper shells.
      Combine remaining water and barbecue sauce in slow cooker.

      Stand peppers in slow cooker. Top with American cheese. Cover with lid.

      Cook on low 5 to 7 hours (or on high 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours).
      Serve peppers topped with sauce.
