we have soap in the bathrooms and they still keep the antibacterial gels in the
classroom. Kids don’t always do a great job of washing their hands, if they wash
at all. This way, teachers can be sure they all have been reasonably cleaned if
they use the gel routinely when they come back to the classroom. Probably cuts
down on illnesses since it takes care of the germs picked up from doorknobs,
etc. on the trip back!

I agree totally – at my daughter’s school last year they had a flu
epidemic – hundreds of children out for 2 weeks. They lose state funds
when children are absent. We received a note from the kindergarten
teachers asking for antibacterial wipes for the children to use when
the bathrooms are out of soap. excuse me!?! maybe if the district
would ante up some soap in the bathrooms, there wouldn’t have been a
flu epidemic!
(we have to provide 4 boxes of crayons this year. At the end of
school, the teacher returned 1 box to me in DD’s bag which I put back
for this year.)
Watch the Office Depot sales – a couple weeks ago I bought glue for
$0.09 a bottle – Bic pens (12 ct) for $0.25 ea. and 3 ring binders
2/$1. I’ve just been gathering the stuff as I see it and putting it
back.
