We spent the summer in San Antonio last summer – and will be
volunteering there again this year for two months. We have two little
girls and we did lots of things last year. We did splurge for season
passes to Sea World. Maybe instead of doing two parks – you can get
a two day pass to one park. It took us about three visits to Sea
World before we took in all the shows and rides. My girls were worn
out after about 5 hours and so was I.
Also, there is the Witte Museum – which had a free or reduced day for
children each week. THey have the “science treehouse” and we spent
hours there. We also went to the McNay Art Museum and had a picnic
lunch on the park like grounds. To tour the museum is by donation.
We also visited the five missions… not just the Alamo. That is
also free. We splurged on a river boat ride down the river walk area
We also walked around the Little Village and looked at the shops and
artisians. The public swimming pools are free, also.
I am open to more ideas for this year… would like to hear from
others on things to do. Mary
