Tea tree oil may seem expensive but when you realize how long it lasts and how many great uses it has. I thought it might be worth it in the long run. I first bought the bottle because a woman in my tribe whom I jokingly call the medicine woman recomended it for my dds frequent fever blisters. I have since found many other uses for the oil which is basically good for any kind of skin problem to prevent infection you know like a cut, splinter, etc. My DD had a splinter in her toe from old deck boards this was the stuff that they had years ago that was treated with that really bad poison, anyway when dh used to work for a deck company and he had a splinter from this kind of wood it would always get infected and swell a great deal. But I treated DDs splinter site twice a day for three days with the tea tree oil and no infection.
