I do not own a credit card and haven’t since college (I’m 40).
We use a debit visa card that hooks up to our checking account – you know, the kind that says VISA on the front.
We have rented cars, purchased plane tickets, prebooked hotels – everything you do with a credit card – without hassel.
You do not have to tell anyone “oh this is a debit card” – with the visa logo it works the same as a credit card.
I even have the choice of running it as a debit or credit when I pay for groceries. You have to be sure that you that you use it as a credit card (no pin#) when getting gas so that you do not have an enormous hold put on your checking account) but other than that, no problems.
So yes, you can definitely live well without credit cards.
And live saner too LOL!
