      Peppermint Chocolate Meringues
      3 egg whites
      3/4 cup sugar
      1/2 tsp cream of tartar
      1 6-oz pkg semisweet chocolate chips
      1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
      1/2 cup chopped pecans
      1 tsp vanilla extract
      Layer all ingredients, except egg whites and vanilla, in a jar and attach following instructions: Preheat oven to 400°. Whip egg whites until stiff. fold in all ingredients.

      Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet covered with brown paper, a grocery bag is good. Put cookies in oven and turn oven off. Leave cookies in oven for at least 4 hours or overnight.

      For best results, do no open oven door. Store cookies in a covered tin. May be prepared ahead.

      Makes 18 meringues.
