Peach Sweet Tea
You will need:
5 cups of water
1 family size tea bag (or 3 regular sized tea bags, I use Lipton)
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup honey
2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed
2 cups frozen peaches for serving (don’t thaw these!)
Bring 4 cups of water to boil.
Remove from heat, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes.
Pour the tea into a 2-quart pitcher then set aside
Combine the sugar, honey, and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan, bring the mixture to a boil, stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add the pureed peaches and return to a low boil. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
Strain the mixture using a sieve. (Toss the fruit pulp or add it to smoothies for a bit of extra flavor).
Add the strained syrup to the tea, tasting until it’s the desired sweetness.
Use 2 cups of the syrup for a traditional Southern Sweet or just 1 cup if you’re already sweet and don’t need the sugar.
To serve add frozen tea slices to a glass, and top off with tea. If you’d like you can use fresh peach slices and add a mint sprig for color and a burst of fresh flavor too.
