Dawn, I am so sorry this happened to you. It is terrifying.
In a situation like this, you should definitely approach a store clerk (they'll have surveillance equipment) or call the police with a license number and description of the man and his car. Even though you are safe, it gives them information should someone else be approached or harmed by this man. And store security can be on the lookout for him or his car, too. If they (police or security) are on the spot, it can keep someone like this from trying to follow you home. Our grocery store keeps a security patrol out in the parking lot at night so information like this helps keep everyone safer.
