KeymasterWe are big in my household on the buy local food thing. I’m fortunate enough to work in a farmers market and have easy access to great foods grown in my home county. I’m also a local artist so I’m also a big fan of the “buy handmade-support your local artist movement.” We all need to support our local communities more.

Subject: Budget101.com : Re: OT: Is it Finally Time we Call for a boycott?Toys from China are the least of my worries. If people would only
realize the food ingredients that companies obtain from China and
apply the same horror stories we are seeing about simple toys to
foods….!!!!I am really becoming gung-ho for the “local food” movement, so that I
buy my food in as pure a form as possible from local producers. I know
I am blessed to live in California where this is possible year-round,
but I’m hearing of more people doing this–buying from farmers
markets, cooperatives–to avoid food with antibiotics, pesticides,
human growth hormones, etc. More and more evidence shows these harmful
additives are the reason for our daughters maturing at 10-11 years old
these days!Who knows how distant Chinese mass producers are growing foods and
producing things for export? Toys are only the tip of the iceberg!
