Yes, there will be a large grocery store within walking
distance. For me walking distance is a mile or two of
flatterrain and will have a sidewalk. Always ask at
the hotel desk if the area is safe for walking…good idea
no matter where you visit and carry the name and address
of the hotel in your pocket…can't tell you how often I've been
lost and couldn't recall the name of where I was staying.

Your hotel room will have a coffeemaker thatcan be use
for hot water andwouldn't be surprised if it has a microwave
in your room or in another locationof the hotel. A surprising
number of Californians do not eat restaurant food so any
request/questions you may have for the hotel staff they've heard
      before.

Also don't be shy about walking away for something
because it's too expensive and always ask the prices before
committing and you can't go wrong.Locals do it all the time.
If you should go to a restaurant ask to see the menu before
      being seated.
When I moved from Southern California to Arkansas 4 years
ago I just about had a meltdown, the culture was so different
I felt like I was in a foreign country.

      In California we discussed
the prices of everything with friends and strangers alike and
most everyone knew the cost and was quick to tell you where
      there was a better deal.
Here in “The Woods” of n/c Arkansas no one sharesinfo on the
best deals until they really get to know you.

Enjoy your trip and let me know how everything goes.

The hotel is near the LA Airport. Does anyone know if there are any grocery stores close by in that area?

First find out where the hotel is located
you'll be staying at and then post where
it's located. Good chance someone will be familiar with the are.
