I made my own coupon organizer from an empty manila file folder. I just measured the approximate size of most coupons and cut a file folder to a size that is convenient for me. Use the standard fold of the folder for the bottom, cut the front side to the height you want, and cut the back almost double that height so you’ll have a flap to fold over the front, and then cut the width to whatever you want it to be.

I cut 4 strips from the remaining folder material about 3/4″ wide and 2″ long and taped them (2 per side) to prevent the coupons from falling out. For separators, I simply cut them from another folder to the same size as the organizer pocket I made and taped a tab to the top, in astaggered patternso it’s easy to see each section separately. You don’t even need to attach these separators, just stick them inside your organizer.

The last thing is to punch a hole in the bottom of the flap and insert a rubber band through the hole then through itself to keep the whole thing safely closed. All you have to do then is stretch the loose tail of the rubber band around the organizer. I even put my shopping list under the one side of the rubber band so I have everything together. The most recent one I’ve made has a LOT of different sections just because it’s easier for me that way.

I put my separators in the organizer in the same way most grocery stores are laid out. All of mine have the bakery to the right as you enter the store, then the Deli, produce fresh meats, etc.

It takes about 1/2 hour to put this together, but I’ve purchased some organizers in the past and lost them! Yes I know, I’m absent minded and just forgot them in the cart! At least losing one I’ve made is a lot cheaper!
