I am a lover of banana bread other things like banana cake and

muffins. When banana’s go on sale, I will usually buy a whole BUNCH

and my daughter and I eat what we like and I let the other go soft. I

wait until they turn brown and start to get squishy and I put them in

a large mixing bowl and smash them all to smitherines and then get out

my 1 cup measuring cup and measure all the banana’s out into 1 cup’s

and put them in a small ziploc bag and freeze them. That way through

the winter or when ever I get a wild hair up my WooHa I snag a bag out

of the freezer and make what I want to make (It’s already measured

don’t have to measure it out!!). I also do this with Zucchini and put

it through my food processor and measure it out and put it into ziploc

bags and freeze them. I always do Zucchini since it is out of season

in the winter and that is when I love to bake. All of my Christmas

gifts to family’s is a large basket of homemade food, so that is where

all the frozen stuff comes in handy.

      I hope that this helped.

wasteful; however, due to my DH’s medical condition I buy the

recommended amount he should eat and either come up with extras if he

doesn’t eat as many as recommended or short if/when the teens eat more

bananas than I anticipated. It truly is a “best guestimate thing” and

I use the leftover ones for banana bread or smoothies to avoid thowing

      them away.

you are buying something you can’t use, then it is NO bargain at

all…….Even if it’s only one banana or two, we’re trying to be

frugal, and any waste is not frugal. So, I would suggest that you buy

      a few less bananas.

vanilla wafers), banana split with low-fat frozen yogurt, or frozen

banana on a stick? Personally, I think my favorite way to use a

banana is sliced on top of a bowl of Cheerios, or just plain by itself

      at lunch…….
