I prefer natural as well but be very careful with using natural products to
get rid of bacterial infections. Untreated strep throat can result in
scarlet fever and that can be deadly…especially in small children. Our
pediatrician once told us that a bacterial infection can fake you out…you
think it’s all gone but the bacteria is still floating around which is why
they say to take the antibiotics for 10 days to make sure you have
completely wiped out the bacteria. If your child develops a rash 3-5 days
after the strep throat is all gone that is the beginning stages of scarlet
fever. At that point you have to see a doctor. I only know this because my
2nd son used to get strep throat all the time but would have not one single
symptom until the rash broke out and then we would have to run him to the
doctor for the antibiotics and at that point it usually took 2 doses instead
of just one.For whatever reason, he just never showed the signs and
symptoms…even now at age 20 he’s still the same way…won’t show the signs
or symptoms until he is VERY ill.
I say natural is definitely preferable for almost everything…I would just
be a bit cautious with strep throat.Sue in Pa
