🍍 This is nana’s famous Crockpot Pineapple Moonshine recipe- if you have a cold/flu or cough, this’ll knock it out of your chest in one hearty shot. 😉 (At least, our family swears by it!) nanas crockpot pineapple moonshine

The crockpot recipe for pineapple moonshine calls for pineapple juice, and pineapple is loaded with vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant in the body.

Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron more efficiently and aids in building up collagen that keeps bones strong and heals cuts and wounds. Pineapple crockpot moonshine is also a great source of manganese that helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Pineapples crockpot moonshine also contains thiamin (vitamin B1), which helps your body get energy from carbohydrates you eat, while keeping your nervous system healthy; selenium to fight against cancer; copper to strengthen bones and form red blood cells; fiber to help digestion; and folate for heart health.

There, now that I’ve touted the um.. *cough* health benefits, here’s how nana makes it.

      Nana’s Crockpot Pineapple Moonshine

      Ingredients
      56 ounces canned pineapple juice
      2 cups granulated sugar
1 liter everclear grain alcohol or (a decent high octane vodka)

      1. Combine pineapple juice and sugar to crock-pot.
      2. Cook on LOW for 2 hours with lid slightly ajar.
      3. Allow mixture to cool completely before adding in Alcohol. Add the alcohol, stir to combine and let it set 1 hour.
      4. Pour mixture into 4 Quart Canning Jars.
      5. Add lids and rings to jars.
      6. Store in a cool dry place.

Sometimes people ask if the alcohol burns off during cooking, the answer is NO. This is called moonshine for a reason. ❤️
Here’s another version if you don’t have a crockpot

      One pineapple cubed
      1 lemon sliced thinly
1/2 cup of Sugar in the Raw or white sugar
1 bottle of 750 mL of moonshine

Divide the lemons equally to two one-quart jars
Add a 1/4 cup sugar to each one-quart jar
Divide the 750mL of moonshine into each jar
Top off to the top with filtered water, more moonshine, or leave as is.

How long will this last without refrigeration

Since it contains a significant amount of alcohol and sugar, it can be stored without refrigeration for an extended period. Alcohol acts as a preservative and inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms that cause food spoilage.

If stored properly in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, the pineapple-infused alcohol should be safe to consume for several months to a year. However, the flavor and quality may start to deteriorate over time, so it’s best to consume it within a few months for the best taste.

What’s the Difference Between Everclear and Moonshine? … Everclear is the brand name for a grain alcohol that has a neutral taste. Moonshine, or corn whiskey, is a type of illegally made liquor. Basically, Everclear is water and pure ethanol without any flavor added.

You might have a difficult time locating Everclear as many areas do not allow the sale of pure grain alcohol. When we lived in Maine, we had to drive to New Hampshire to acquire the liquor.

You can, however, substitute a high-quality vodka to achieve a similar flavor, but it won’t have the same potency as it does when using Everclear.

We’ve made this particular recipe a couple of times. I recommend adding a cinnamon stick to the pineapple juice in the crockpot. It adds a depth of flavor that is particularly enjoyable in the fall and winter months.

      3 Whole Cinnamon Sticks
1 Liter 190 Proof Everclear Grain Alcohol (preferred) or Vodka (less-preferred!)

How to Make Crockpot Apple Pie Moonshine

      1. Pour the apple cider and cinnamon sticks into a 5-quart or 6-quart crock-pot.
      2. Cook on LOW for 2 hours with the lid slightly ajar.
      3. The cinnamon sticks should be removed and the liquid should be allowed to cool completely.
      4. Stir in the alcohol.
      5. Fill five 1-quart Mason jars (or bottles of your choice) with the mixture and secure them with lids and rings.
      6. You can store it in a refrigerator or a cool, dark place.

All of these recipes can be made on the stove top instead. Combine the ingredients (except the alcohol & extract) in a medium size pot and heat until it begins to boil, stirring often. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to cool completely. Mix in the Everclear alcohol (or vodka, as the case may be!) and whatever flavor extract it calls for. Then jar, seal, label and store.

Here’s a homemade slow cooker recipe for blueberry pie moonshine that tastes literally like a blueberry pie!

      CrockPot Blueberry Pie Moonshine

      You’ll Need:
1 Liter 190 Proof Everclear Grain Alcohol or Vodka
16 Cups Blueberries fresh or frozen
      2 Cups Brown Sugar packed
      2 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
      2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
      2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
      1 Tablespoons Pure Vanilla Extract
      16 Cups Water

      1. In a 6-quart or larger slow cooker, combine the blueberries, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, water, and butter.
      2. Cook the blueberries on HIGH for 2 hours or until they are soft.
      3. The liquid must be removed from the heat source and cooled completely.
      4. Using a blender or immersion blender, blend the ingredients until smooth, adding in the lemon juice.
      5. Pour in the Everclear (or Vodka) and mix well.
      6. For the next 30 days, place in jars with lids in a cool, dark place to let it ripen

You can also make this recipe on the stovetop. In a medium size stockpot, combine the blueberries, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, lemon juice, water, and pure vanilla extract, and heat until it begins to boil, stirring occasionally.

Remove the liquid from the heat and allow it to cool completely. Add the Everclear (or Vodka) and pour the liquid into quart or pint size canning jars.

Lids and rings should be secure. You should store the jar in a cool, dark place until you are ready to use it.

      Shake well before drinking.
