KeymasterWe haven’t done a theme-cool idea!- but have gone to a $5 limit and get
either a man or woman’s gift on hubby’s side of the family. We don’t
give cheap gifts necessarily either. We all shop sales. Last year I
was able to get a $10 book(jokes for guys) for $2 so I threw in a
couple of lottery tickets. This year the men’s gift is a travel/shave
kit originally $15 marked down to $5 after Christmas last year. When
hubby saw it, he sent me back for one for him! And the woman’s gift is
a set of inexpensive kitchen linens that I’ve embellished with a little
crochet and a couple of crocheted wash cloths-they last practically
forever.
The way we do it is when it comes time for the gift exchange, we all
draw numbers(men & women separate). The first person opens their gift
but that is no guarantee they get to keep it. The second person
can “steal” it. When it is #2’s turn, they can take any unwrapped gift
or choose a wrapped one. If they choose an unwrapped one the person
whose gift was “stolen” picks a replacement. It is sometimes funny to
watch how often something gets passed around.
