How to Make a Christmas Village Tree

to make your own christmas tree village you will need some basic plywood, a saw, a pencil, and a smile.

The tree stand is made of simple round plywood circles with the center cut out and screwed into place using corner brace brackets. they are just stacked on top of one another to get a tiered effect.

make a 2×4 cross section on the bottom with a 4″x4″ in the center. This will be your base. It should extend all the way to the edge of the bottom shelf, for stability.

Spray paint the tiers white and then decorate with garland, fake snow, etc to hide the edges and the legs.

What Size Shelves for the Tree

The base size is approximately 5′ in diameter, reducing each additional level approximately 1′ in diameter (5′, 4′, 3′, 2′ & 1′) and 18-24″ in between each layer to ensure room for your village. If you want a larger tree, start with a larger base, (6′, 5′, 4′, 3′, 2′ & 1′).

Cut a 4″x4″ hole in the very center of each circle, except the smallest one, which is screwed on directly to the top of the 4″x4″

Screw them in place using brackets, make sure they’re level!

Wow!! What a great idea!! They have little village house pieces at target for just a couple dollars each, I’d like to get a few and paint them like gingerbread houses, except I didn’t know how to display them.

      These ideas are wonderful!!

The dimensions are provided in the first post

The base size is approximately 5′ in diameter, reducing each additional level approximately 1′ in diameter (5′, 4′, 3′, 2′ & 1′) and 18-24″ in between each layer to ensure room for your village.

Cut a 4″x4″ hole in the very center of each circle, except the smallest one, which is screwed on directly to the top of the 4″x4″

The very center post is a 4″x4″ post.
The bottom circle is 5 feet round in diameter
The next is 4 feet round in diameter
the layers reduce by 1 foot.

The very base of the stand basically is 4 2×4’s that are crossed and then screwed or bolted together for stability.

Your pictures show 6 and 7 tiers, but directions show sizes for only 5 shelves. Can you share the diameters for these shelves?  Thank you!

The tiers reduce by 1 foot each, so if you want a larger tree, start with a larger tier, 7′, 6′, 5′, 4′, 3′, 2′,1′.

How big is the stand with the 2×4’s?

That depends entirely on what size tree you choose to build. The base should extend all the way out to the edge of the bottom layer.

Very nice tree, but you should not be cutting a 4×4″ hole in center as a 4×4″ is only 3.5×3.5″.  Might want to correct your post before a lot of people start cutting their wood too find out its too big.

      Actual dimensions: 3.56 in. x 3.56 in. x 96 in.
