these are the classic burgers, the ones your family will come back for again and again
Midwestern Hamburgers
1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/4 cup butter, diced, frozen 2 hours
vegetable oil for grill grate, plus additional for buns
4 hamburger buns
8 green onions
Place beef, salt and pepper in large bowl. Quickly cut butter into mean and seasons with 2 forks or pastry cutter ust until well distributed, not until melted. Form mixture into 4 patties.Brush grill grate with oil. Place burgers on grill. cover.
Grill, turning once, 9 to 11 minutes or until cooked through. Transfer to carving board. Let rest while grilling green onions and buns.Place green onions on grill grate. Cook, turning once, 4 minutes or until wilted and charred. Transfer to carving board.
Slice into 4-inch segments. Brush cut side of buns with oil. Place on grill grate cut-side down directly over high heat.
Toast about 1 minute. Serve burgers on buns with green onions and condiments of your choice. 4 servings = about 465 calories
note: do not press the patties with a spatula!you’ll squeeze out the juices!
