hi,
i just took some time to scan the information at this site… it is an
eyeopener. when i was 7 years old my mom had a total hyserectomy.Hormones
were just hitting the market. The doctor mentioned them, but said that he was
not sure about the harmful effects. Mom opted not to take hormones, and never
did…At that time, she was in her early 40’s. In her 60’s she developed high
blood pressure. She died at the age of 82, six months after having a stroke.
Other than blood pressure and age onset diabetes (in late 70’s) and gallblader
problems, she had no other health problems. She did have a hip replacement at
about age 79.I was prescribed Hormones about 5 years ago, by a gynecologist that was filling
in for my doctor…. He did no tests, just prescribed them because I was
suffering from depression.. I developed a couple of the milder side effects and
went off them.Every year after that I have had my hormone level checked. Last
year at age 54 the doctor said my hormones are still in normal range…. yes, I
did have a partial hysterectomy about 15 years ago…so the only positive way
I can be sure is to have the lab test done. After reading this, I think I will follow my mother’s lead… and opt for NO
hormones.Pat B
