Verizon suddenly started charging $4 per month to have chosen their long distance (ie, just to HAVE Verizon long distance). For two lines, that was $8 per month for nothing (especially for me — I’m mute and don’t have a TTY line yet). There was a thread here saying that you don’t have to sign up for long distance service and could use something like those 10-10 numbers if you want it. So I wrote to cancel Verizon’s long distance but they refuse to cancel it unless I designate a replacement. Please help; what can I do? I HATE Verizon.
