I know it's different for each state but what are some of the basic guidelines? For example is there a income limit that you have to be over? What about number of bedrooms/bathrooms etc.?

I know that were I'm at right now I can't but if I get moved in the spring thenI'd like to know before that to see if I can afford to get a place big enough as I'm sure a lot of these kids never get to be out in the country which is were I'm going.

Don't count on it being much additional income. Most states pay very little reimbursement, often not enough to cover the additional monthly expenses – to say nothing of how much all the extra-curricular activities cost!

My kiddos are in Little League, Parks & Rec, dance class, after school activities and piano lessons, and none of those are something that our state will reimburse for.

The rewards have to come from knowing you've made a positive difference in the life of a child – if only for the time that they're in your home.
      Good luck,

To help our budget plus give a home to a needed child we are going to
be foster parents. We have our first appoinment in August then a home
visit and then the training. So we might have a little one to fill our

      empty house before Christmas.

My kids are all grown up and have their own kids so we have an empty
house and since I am at home its a very quiet house. I miss my kids
being little and doing family things and so we have a chance to be a

busy family again for a child in need.

I am anxious to see what age child we get and relearn everything about
being a mom to a young one again. I figured since I have grandkids I am
used to being around the little ones too. My daughter lived with us

till recently with her 2 children, which now she has her 3rd.

My husband and I are looking forward to our future.

      Debbie
