Human Hair around gardens?

I’m a hairstylist. Every year I notice that this time of year we start getting woman coming in and asking us for bags of hair clippings. I finally figured out that they use this around their gardens to keep away critters. Has anyone else out there ever tried this?

If it does work it would be a great, natural, free, way to help deter animals.

I haven’t tried this for gardening. This time of the year though, I will cut the boys hair outside the birds will use it for nesting.

I think my mom did it, and I think it worked on certain animals more than others.
