I have a box of yellow Cake mix (Betty Crocker Super Moist) and hubby really only likes Chocolate cake. Can I just add Hershey Baking Powder to it? Would it turn out OK, if so any idea how much to add and would I need to add any additional liquid?
Just trying to use up something in the cupboard before it goes bad.

Add 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder to the dry ingredients. You might taste once mixed and see if it has enough sugar to suit you, if it doesn’t add a little bit more. No additional liquid is needed. Hope this helps. Thanks; Virginia - September 4, 2012 at 10:40 pm #432787

Just trying to use up something in the cupboard before it goes bad.Dump the cake mix into a bowl, add 5 Tablespoons of Baking cocoa, mix well. Then add the remaining ingredients mentioned on the box. You don’t need to add any additional liquid, but if you’re worried, you can add 1 additional Tablespoon of water.
If you’re not in the mood for cake, you can make yummy cookies:
1 cake mix (if you want Double chocolate cookies, add 5 Tbs of Baking Cocoa to the mix)
⅔ cup rolled oats
½ cup margarine, softened
1 egg
½ cup chocolate chipsPreheat oven to 375°F.Combine cake mix, oats, margarine, and egg in a bowl and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips.
Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove warm cookies from sheet and allow to cool on a wire rack. - September 5, 2012 at 1:07 am #432793

I will actually try both of these (I have 2 boxes) & hubby eat just about the whole bag of Chocolate Chip’s (I was wondering what to do with them as well, thought about 1/2 batch of Chocolate Chip cookies). These will take care of both issues. Thanks.

On the cookies, is it just what you listed, it does not seem like enough liquid?
