If your chickens appear to be lazy and refuse to lay eggs in the winter, here’s a simple trick to keep them laying whether it’s freezing cold outside or sweltering heat!

    Summer Months:
    Laying Mash
    Oats & Bread Twice daily

    Winter:
    Whole Corn
    Layer Mash

Do not use Cracked corn- it’s useless.

These are good tips but don’t overlook the fact that chickens need 12-14 hours of Light per day to continue laying. If you want them to lay all winter long, simply provide them with more light. If they lay all summer with layer pellets, they’ll lay all winter with the same feed.

We do add a bit of corn and a few handfuls of 5 grain blend each day as a treat for ours.

Winter sucks for everyone, even the birds
