My son is allergic to maple and honey. And he reacts poorly to sugar (some
kids just don’t handle it well – he gets aggressive). Anyway, we use barley
malt syrup or brown rice syrup when we have to.
The taste is different –
not nearly as sweet. But the number one way we cope – we don’t use sweet
stuff anymore. It’s a rare treat, and therefore appreciated even with the
different taste.
