Homemade Soap for Tough Hand Cleaning

1/4 cup grated Fels Naphtha soap ends
2 Tbsp. mason’s sand or pumice
      1 cup water

Place soap and water in a saucepan. Place over low heat; stir
until soap is melted. After mixture cools, add mason’s sand or
      pumice.

Store in a cottage cheese container or margarine tub.
To use, dip fingers into soap mixture and lather hands. Rinse
well. This works well on greasy tools, also.

      Be sure to rinse
      and dry tools thoroughly.

Thanks! Where can I buy ground pumice locally, do you know? Would Hobby Lobby/Michaels carry it?

Or do you need to order that online?

if you can’t find ground pumice (check ebay), then you could substitute used coffee grounds for it. that works very well for tough hand cleaning and for getting bad smells off of hands.

Another use for those used coffee grounds. Thanks lisaandbaby2003.

You’re welcome! You could also use quick instant oatmeal as well. I put that in my soap and it helped hubby get car grease/oil off his hands.

      Hugs,
      Lisa

hobby lobby carries small lots of pumice here.

i like the idea of oatmeal also, a little cheaper too. i don’t have coffee drinkers in the house so i don’t have any used grounds 🙁

Try it with some grated orange or lemon peel or essential oil for a nice fragrance. I used to buy the orange scented pumice hand cleaner for $1
at Dollar General but they don’t carry it any more and it is expensive at other stores so I’m making my own! Love these soap, laundry dishwasher recipes.
