My thoughts: I like to give consumable items as gifts. I feel that people don’t want things just added to the clutter or something they feel like they must display even if it isn’t their style. I’m talking teenagers and adults. Last year for teacher gifts I got these great looking chocolate covered apples with pretty sprinkles. There is a chocolate shop in our mall that packages these up very pretty and cost $5. They are boxed up in a clear lightweight plastic box with lots of pretty confetti and ribbons. You could make your own for a lot less. Anyway, with3 kids, 2 of themwho have 6 teachers each (they are in middle and high schools) I found these chocolate covered apples a great gift. Also got some for cub scout leaders, religious education leaders etc. Everyone seemed to really be thrilled to get them. I also figured that if they were on a diet and didn’t
want the sweets that they could share the apples with their children and families. For other family members I’ve gotten pretty baskets at garage sales and goodwill. I fill up the baskets with candy, coffee, jelly, bubble bath, etc. basically things I know they will enjoy. Watch your coupons and you canget some of these things pretty inexpensively. For neighbor gifts, I have made layered cookie mix in a jar, homemade hot chocolate mix (get recipe off of http://www.foodnetwork.com) and chocolate covered pretzels. An early Merry Christmas everyone! Nancy J.
