Look into wic if you have not, the help with juice, milk, cheese,
cereal, and peanut butter is a huge perk. they are awesome for paying
for most/all baby formula for the first year as well.look up a local freecycle group, i think yahoo has groups for most
communities. you can post what your child outgrows, and you can
request clothes they will be coming into. there are also groups onyahoo for community sales and things if you do not want to give away
your used items. craigslist is another good site for finding used
items and making money off of your used stuff.a way to stretch money for toys is to create a “toy trade” with a
couple other mom’s. it does not even have to be official, maybe
someone you have lunch with here and there can bring a couple toys toswap for a week or something.
baby specific tips are as follows…
tell friends and family you want a costco membership (or otherwarehouse store membership) for a baby gift, or if you are already a
member, have them pay for the next year for you 🙂
stay away from the playtex bottles that take the insert you have tobuy. there are other bottles now that allow less air without having
to buy the inserts.
buy wipes in bulk if you are not making your own.buy diapers in bulk after size 1. Size 2 only buy 1 bulk box, than
buy the bags until baby is out of them. Size 3 is safer to buy bulk
without fear of wasting half a bulk box due to baby growing too fast.Even if you use disposable diapers, you should buy a couple of cloth
to use at home. Imagine the savings that three diapers a day can add
up to after a couple of years. You can find them used online at Ebay,Craigslist, and other auctions sites.
Buy the three packs of baby Tylonal, I am sure you know this after
having older children.Take baby toy shopping with you. Things that do not make their whole
face light up, do not buy. My daughter looks things over and if she
does not really BEAM over them, we keep looking. Who needs more toysthat they leave behind while playing with the empty kleenex box?
Find a mom to trade sitting with. You have no idea how hard it is to
find someone to watch 4 children until you have 4. Family is great, but 4 children is alot to expect them to take when YOU ask them to. I
know this one, I have 4 who are 10, 4, 3, and 10 months. I had tons
of sitters and offers when it was 1, 2, and even 3 children… now..not so much.
Ok, think I am done rambling now.
