ParticipantSave the antibiotics for the serious stuff.”
I have a question about this. My husband has cat scratch disease, we are
three months into it right now, and it is still very severe. The disease
specialist said he had never seen a bacteria count so high or a lymph node
swollen so much in relation to this disease. Two weeks ago they put my
husband on antibiotics, zithromax which he is to take every other day for
three months, and vibramycin which he is to take twice a day for one month.
I am concerned about this lowering his immune system. I am worried because
he already seems to be getting a lot of colds and flus this season. Anyway I
am wondering if there is anything he can take to boost his immune sytem and
counteract the effects of the antibiotics.I am also concerned about future
illnesses that may be more serious–there has never been a death from cat
scratch disease, but most cases go away on there own within two months. It
comes from getting scratched by an infected kitten, aparently 30% of kittens
in CA are infected and ours was one. I’d love your input.I am already
giving him some Jarro-Dophilus, but is there anything else that will boost
his immune system. Also Lis, you mentioned in another post that a good place to start was to
add tea and it would help your overall health. I am wondering what kind of
tea do you recommend.Thank you so much,
Melissa in Ca
