      Here’s another gift from your kitchen for newlyweds or the recent graduate moving into their first place away from the parents.
      Purchase an hibachi and fill it with non-perishable items: oil, balsamic vinegar, dry mustard, salt, pepper, brown sugar, a gift certificate for $5, and the recipe.
      Grilled Steak With Marinated Onion and Tomato Salad
      1/2 cup oil
      6 tbs white balsamic vinegar
      1 3/4 tsp dry mustard, divided
      salt and pepper
      1 tbs dark brown sugar
      2-lb beef roast, trimmed
      4 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
      1 bunch watercress, stems trimmed
      1/2 white onion, thinly sliced
      6 pieces French baguette
      Whisk the oil, vinegar, and 3/4 tsp mustard in a large bowl. Heat the grill to medium-high heat. Season the oil mixture with salt and pepper. Transfer 2 tbs dressing to another bowl. Whisk in the sugar and 1 tsp mustard. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper, then top with mixture from the second bowl.
      Grill the beef, turning occasionally, for 30 minutes or until the desired level of doneness is achieved. Add the tomatoes, watercress, and onion to the first bowl of marinade. Toss while beef grills. Place roast on a cutting board when done, let rest for 10 minutes, and cut thinly across the grain. Grill the bread for about 3 minutes, place on plates, and grilled side up. Arrange the beef slices over bread and top with salad. Serves 6
