This year, I want to give my brother a really special gift. A year ago, our parents died in a car accident. Since then, he is really depressed, he doesn’t go out with his friends anymore, the only person with who he still talks is me.

I’m very concerned about this situation because he is only 18 years old and at this age his life begins to take shape. I don’t want him to remain sad for the rest of his life. He actually said to me once that I didn’t love our parents because I still smile and do things I did before their dead.

I want to make him understand that I’m sad too, but we can’t let this loss to destroy our lives. I thought about turning a photo with our family into a painting and I’ve already found a company which can do that. Do you think this is an appropriate gift or will I aggravate the situation?

This sounds like it would be a lovely gift, but why spend all that money having it made by a company at all? You can make your own very inexpensively and it would mean that much more to him knowing you took the time to create it.

It’s really thoughtful of you to put so much effort into finding the right gift for your brother, hugs to your family. beaverhug smilie
