This can be prepared ahead for a camping trip or prepared at home to go with the steaks on the grill;-D
Garlic-Parmesan Bread1 quality loaf of bread
4 garlic cloves, minced
a good handful of parsley, chopped
8 tbs unsalted butter, room temperature
pinch of kosher salt
1 cup finely shredded Parmesan
For camping: Slice long grooves into the bread, but don’t cut all the way through. Deep crevices for the butter is needed. Mix the rest of the ingredients together in a bowl with a wooden spoon.
Cram the butter into the crevices of the bread. Wrap the loaf up in foil and refrigerate or place in cooler. At campsite, when ready to start the meal, place the foil wrapped bread on a grate on the campfire.
Cook for 20 min and remove. Open foil. Place back on the grate without closing the foil for another 10-20 min, until ready to serve.
If dinner is not ready at that time, remove and close foil to keep warm until ready to eay.
To prepare at home: Preheat oven to 425F.
Follow the above prep instructions. Wrap the loaf up in foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then unwrap it a bit to expose the top and bake for 5 more minutes so it can get all crusty with cheese and butter.
