ParticipantFried Chicken and Waffle Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
4 frozen waffles, thawed2 cups of boneless fried chicken
6-8 slices of cheese
4 pats of salted butter
2 tsp honey
1 tsp hot sauce
Once the frozen waffles thaw to room temp, add 1/4 of the cheese onto two of the waffles. Chop the fried chicken into bite size nuggets and then place on top. Add hot sauce and honey, adding more or less depending on taste.Add the remaining cheese and top with remaining two waffles. In a cast iron skillet, add 2 pats of butter and melt until butter develops little bubbles. Add sandwiches and cook for a few minutes until the waffle becomes crisp and golden – add remaining butter if necessary around the edges, then flip.
Cook for a few minutes on the other side until all the cheese has melted and the outside of the sandwich is crispy.
Remove from heat and let sit for one minute. While it’s sitting, mix equal parts hot sauce with equal parts honey and serve alongside sandwich. Serves 2
