The Michigan Library website is giving out a free pass to their library, you can have access to the (almost) entire Chilton’s library car manual/repair collection by going to their Library website below:
- MeL: The Michigan eLibrary
- 2nd link
- At the prompt where it says “Login using Michigan Driver’s License or State ID number,” enter the following:
- Please don’t include spaces in the beginning or end of code.
This is not an actual drivers license code but a free code so you can enter their site for free!
You can access the link directly here:
Then click on “Auto Repair Source” Which is down on the bottom left hand side

Just a Note- we received threats of legal action from Chilton if we fail to remove this post.
Currently we are not aware of Any laws in the United States Prohibiting linking to a public site, it is our understanding that linking cannot constitute infringement because the computer server of the linking web-site does not copy or otherwise process the content of the linked-to site. We are simply providing a list of Known resources.
Is anyone aware of ANY Laws what-so-ever prohibiting Linking to a Public Library??!!!

hello thank you. I telling you I just went to that Michigan elibrary site looking to check out chilton free manuals and that access is shut down due to excessive unauthorized out of state users. they no longer accept library card or driver’s license #.
now they track your IP location and if you’re not in the state forget it.
so check it out and change your website accordingly. thank you, Kai

No worries my friend, simply access the Michigan Library website using a Michigan Proxy IP address.
Here’s a list of Free Michigan Proxies
HTTP proxy configuration on Windows 7
First, open the Start Menu and click Control Panel .
Then, click Network and Internet .
Click on Internet Options.
In the connections tab, click on LAN settings in the Local Area Network section.
Activate the checkbox Use a proxy server for your LAN and click on Advanced.
Here’s how to set a proxy manually in Windows 10:
Click Network & Internet.
In the Manual Proxy Setup section, set the Use a Proxy Server switch to On.
In the Address field, type the IP address.
In the Port field, type the port.
Click Save; then close the Settings window.
