One subject that affects all of us is car repair on a budget. I have a
disabled husband and daughter and rely on our car for dr appointments.
Today it is not running and I need advice on how to do cost effective
repairs. Here is what happened, the other day it ran fine, then we
noticed it was not wanting to go uphill very much. Oil pressure, all
fluid levels, etc were good. It started to backfire and shirt hard (its
automatic). The next day my husband changed plugs and when he started
it up the oil pressure was 0, but it was ok the day before. It back
fired. Today we went to take him to the dr and it would not go over
20mph, backfired, but all fluid levels and oil pressure was good. It is
a 1982 GMC 3/4 ton Vandura conversion van, automatic, 305 and ran
wonderful until this point. We can’t afford another right now so I need
to know the most cost effective way to fix this. Any ideas?
