I thought we’d start several new threads, some that will hopefully bring some smiles to your faces. I don’t know about you, but I love to hear of various family traditions. Everyone’s families are different- so we’d love to hear how you like to celebrate the holidays- and what traditions your family looks forward to repeating each year. One of my families favorite traditions is waking up to the smell of Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls from the land of Nod… These are super easy Cinnamon rolls that can be made with almost any biscuit recipe. (Or even from Bisquick biscuits if you’re in a big hurry).3 tsp. baking Powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. Milk
Mix flour, baking powder, salt & sugar. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk until mix forms a ball. Place on floured counter or surface and roll out. Into a large thin rectangle.
In the meantime, have the kids, hubby, whomever, melt a stick of butter & set aside. Mix up some cinnamon sugar (however strong you like it). Pour the butter into the center of the rolled dough- spread with the back of a spoon until the entire dough has butter, sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar. start from 1 side and roll into a “log”. Slice into 1 inch slices and arrange with sides touching on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 9-12 min at 450. they will be nice, fat and browned.
These are totally delicious, super easy to prepare, and like the name says, will rouse almost anyone from the land of nod. This recipe is easily doubled or tripled, as needed.
What’s your favorite Family tradition?
