Tradition #1:
From the time my children were little (oldest is almost 30…youngest
is 16), I either sew or purchase them new pj’s and also get each of
them a new pair of slippers that they get to open Christmas eve, just
before bedtime.
Tradition #2:
The first saturday of December we always go to a tree farm and cut
our Christmas tree. Then we stop to see Santa and the reindeer and
other animals (tree, Santa and animals all at the same farm). Go
home, put on Christmas music, eat cookies and drink hot cocoa with
candy cane stir sticks, while decorating the tree…then we settle in
and watch a Christmas movie or read a Christmas story book together.
Tradition #3:
I make Stuffed French toast every Christmas for breakfast. I prepare
it the day before, refrigerate it overnight, pop it in the oven while
we open gifts…an easy, no fuss breakfast on Christmas morning!
Tradition #4:
A couple of nights before Christmas we drive around to certain areas
in our town and look at Christmas lights.
***make cookies…take to a local nursing home and homeless shelter…
***recycle and make Christmas cards that we hand out along with the
cookies at the nursing home/homeless shelter…
***donate time with our local walk-n-knock food drive…
***when my kids were young, we’d pick tags off the angel tree and
make and buy gifts for needy children the same age and sex as my own
children. Now I am starting this with my granddaughter.
