This is a wonderful gift soap. The addition of almonds gives it a beautiful texture, and help slough off dead skin cells. The scent of vanilla
      makes it smell just wonderful.

This is a delightful recipe for soap, but it’s easy since you start off with a bar of Ivory. Makes one bar.

      1/3 cup ground almonds
      1 4-ounce bar Ivory soap
      1/4 cup distilled water
1 tablespoon almond oil (or you can use vegetable oil)
      1/8 teaspoon vanilla
      1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Grind the almonds to a fine powder in a food processor, blender or coffee grinder and set aside.

Grate the soap, or chop into tiny pieces using a very sharp knife.

In a heavy saucepan bring the water to a boil; then reduce heat to a simmer; add the bits of soap and stir gently until you have a nice smooth soap
mixture. Remove the pan from the heat and add the ground almonds, almond oil, and vanilla fragrance oil, and the almond fragrance oil if you chose to
use it. Stir until well blended.

Spoon the liquid soap mixture into a mold and let set for at least 24 hours before using.

      Tips, Hints and Ideas

You may wonder why this soap starts off with a bar of Ivory. I like making custom soaps with Ivory soap because it’s pure AND then you don’t have to go through the whole tedious soap-making process. Making soap the old-fashioned way is fun, but it’s also a little dangerous since you have to use
      poisonous ingredients such as lye.

This is a fun way for beginning soapmakers to enjoy making their own soap, without having to use such ingredients. And because the ingredients are safer, this is a fun craft idea to do with your kids!

~ Make this soap special by wrapping the individual bars in fine tissue paper, and then sealing with a beautiful seal or sticker or label. You can find great labels at the office supply store now, that you can use with your computer’s printer to make fun gift labels!
