We can get by with 300 per month food budget for our family of five. It does require that I cook from scratch. We have a couple of meatless nights each week.
Meat nights are often more of a casserole with meat in it and not each person getting a big piece of meat. We do occaisionally have a meal where each person might get a piece of meat by itself ( chicken . slice of maetloaf etc) .
More often it is the casserole or soup with meat in it.
Hubby takes sandwiches or leftovers to work for his lunch. Snacks are popcorn, homemade cookies and thins like that.
We drink water at most meals .Quote:.

Subject: Budget101.com : Dollar Amount for Grocery Budget
I’m still trying to set up a more definite budget and would like some
examples to compare my grocery spending to. For those of you with a
budget already in place, what dollar amount do you allot for groceries
on a weekly/monthly basis, and how many people are included. Thanks to
all for the input!
