Cindy,
I use to live 30 minutes from Disneyland. There are quit a few hotels
within walking distance. Do not stay at the Disney hotel, because it
will be more expensive than other places. While at the park, bring a
small cooler with food and drinks and put it in a locker. Food and
drinks are pricy in there. However the cheapest meal is in toon town
at Daisy’s pizza place. You can get a personal pan pizza, a salad,
and a drink for about $7. Also the resort now offers double park
entries (into Disney and California adventure). There isn’t much for
the kids in California adventure unless they are roller coaster size.
Like someone else said, there are plenty of resturants in the area as
well.If you get a room with a refridgerator, then you can also buy a
few supplies to munch on and drink. Some rooms have stoves, so you
could save money by cooking. You get a stamp on your hand when
leaving the park so that you can re-enter; so, you could leave and go
eat then go back in.There is also fast pass on some rides. A fast
pass is where you put your ticket in a machine and it tells you to
come back in an hour to 2 hours and you can get on the ride a lot
faster (there is a short line that moves quicker). We loved this.We
would get a fast pass for the Haunted Mansion then go on another ride.
When we got off, it was time to go to the Haunted Mansion. Instead
of waiting in line for 1 hour, we waited anywhere from 10 minutes to
30 minutes.I saw shuttles all over the place in that area, so it is easy to get
around without a car. Like the other person said, a train goes to San
Diego as well. Personally I like Disney more than Sea World.I had
passes to both. I kept my Disney pass for 3 years. I miss living so
close to it.Oh, if a hotel is connected to a restaurant, you might get free
breakfast at the restaurant (it’s happened to us in the past).Make sure to bring plenty of spending money for inside the park.
There are a lot of fun keepsakes, but they do carry a price tag. One
hint, if you see something you like in the park, look for it in one of
the stores in down town Disney before you buy it. Things are usually
a little cheaper in down town Disney.Jas
