Here is the recipe my mother has been making for us for years. I’ve even
made them successfully 😉
1 cup soft butter
1/3 cup whipping cream
2 cups flour
Mix thoroughly – cover and chill.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll 1/2 of dough at a time, 1/8″ thick. Cut into
1 1/2″ rounds.
(I’ve been known to use water bottle caps for this 😉
Transfer the rounds onto waxed paper which is covered in sugar, dab them on
both sides, and then place on ungreased baking sheet. Prick rounds with
fork (I do 3 rows of 4 holes; does that make sense? 😉 Bake 7 – 9
minutes, depending on oven, etc.
Once completely cooled, fill with creamy
1/4 cup soft butter
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 t vanilla
tint with a few drops of food coloring. My mother has always divided the
filling into 3 or so colors and used pastels.
