If you like Wendys Chili, here is a very easy recipe that makes a huge crockpot full. You can add more heat to it by adding diced jalapenos or green chilis, but this tastes exactly like the stuff you get in the Fast Food chain Wendys.
Ingredients2 lbs ground beef/ chicken / or turkey
1 quart tomato juice
1 29 oz can tomato puree
1 15 oz can red kidney beans drained & Rinsed
1 15 oz can pinto beans drained & rinsed
1 large onion, finely diced
1/2 cup diced Celery
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
1/4 cup chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cayenne pepperIn a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain off the fat.
Put the beef and the remaining ingredients in a 6-quart pot.Cover the pot and let the chili simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
You can also cook this in a slow cooker on low for 3 to 4 hours, just dump everything together in a large crockpot.
